The enzyme cyclo-oxygenase (COX) plays an essential role in making prostaglandin, which in turn is important for the whole body. Painkillers such as NSAIDs inhibit the action of COX and thereby also the formation of prostaglandin. However, there are 2 types of COX enzymes. Inhibition of COX type1 can stimulate a sensitive gastrointestinal system. COX Compositum has no adverse effects on the mucous membranes.
